Choose your lodge
Five lodges, each with its own character — from the off-grid Buffalo Tented Camp to the family-style Haakdoring. Pick on the Stay page, submit an enquiry, and we hold the dates for 7 days.
Travel to South Africa
Fly into OR Tambo International (JNB) in Johannesburg. Most guests arrive on overnight flights and clear immigration in the early morning — easy same-day transfer to the lodge.
Get to the reserve
3.5-hour drive (≈350 km) from OR Tambo via Thabazimbi to Steenbokpan. Private transfers, self-drive route notes, and charter flights to the airstrip all arranged.
A typical day
Sunrise game drive, brunch on the deck, an afternoon at the pool or on a bush walk, sundowners on a kopje, then dinner under the stars. As busy or as quiet as you want.
Food & drink
Hester's kitchen runs three meals a day — boerekos, bushveld classics and the occasional bush dinner under lanterns. Soft drinks, tea and coffee included; premium spirits charged separately.
What to pack
Neutral, layered clothing for cool mornings and warm afternoons. Closed walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, binoculars and a swimsuit. No malaria prophylactics needed — the reserve is malaria-free.
