Fly into OR Tambo (JNB)
Most international guests arrive on overnight flights and clear immigration in the early morning — perfect for a same-day transfer.
Get to the reserve
3.5-hour drive (≈350 km) from OR Tambo via Thabazimbi to Steenbokpan. Private transfers, self-drive routes and charter flights to the nearby airstrip all arranged.
A typical day
Sunrise game drive, brunch on the lodge deck, an afternoon walk or quiet hours by the pool, then sundowners on a kopje as the sky catches fire. Bush dinners and stargazing on request.
Bring
Binoculars, a long lens if you have one, layered clothing (neutral colours), closed walking shoes, a wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen and a refillable water bottle.
Don't worry about
Malaria prophylactics — the reserve is in a certified malaria-free zone. All meals, soft drinks, tea, coffee and laundry are included.
